In many areas, boys and men—especially those from lower-income and Black and Latino communities—face significant challenges. Men account for roughly three-quarters of opioid overdose and suicide deaths. By high school, boys lag girls academically. Recognizing these disparities, Boston Indicators partnered with the newly formed American Institute for Boys and Men (AIBM) to explore these issues in Greater Boston, leading to this report.
